The maps of Medell\u00edn produced by the Agust\u00edn Codazzi Geographical Institute (IGAC) (1971\u20131985) are not merely geographical representations; they symbolise an era marked by violence: the forced conscription of young people, bomb attacks and daily terror. Columns of smoke traced in charcoal on the maps refer to the explosions in the valley \u2013 visible and audible from the mountains. The silhouettes represent the lost generation, who were dragged into war instead of being allowed to dream.
